Wireless Snif 4.162

Friday, July 27th, 2012

Wireless Snif (formerly Sniffer) is a network sniffer that is designed for capturing and analysis of the packets going through the network. Using the packet driver, it requests all the packets from the network card driver (even the packets not addressed to this computer). Then the packets go to protocol analyzers which are written as separate modules and their set may be extended by the user himself. Various analyzers may be interdependent and are organized in a tree structure. The results of each analyzer’s work may be saved in the Database.

Wireless Snif is designed to intercept ICQ, IRC and email messages across a LAN; and it is also possible to observe these messages in the same time the real users will receive it. All intercepted messages are stored in files, which can be later processed and analyzed. There are two versions for your convince IcqSnif with GUI, and console only IcqDump. The functionality is the same, except it is possible to select which machines to arp-spoof exactly in the GUI version. Wireless Sniff is based on the reliable and well-known Ufasoft Sniffer engine. The program is also built to intercept every message available on the network adapter.

DeviceLock 7.2 Beta 2

Thursday, July 26th, 2012

DeviceLock allows network administrators to specify which users can access which devices (ports, floppies, MOs, etc.) on the local computer. It provides network administrators the ability to set and enforce permissions for how, when, where to, and by whom data can or can’t be moved to or from company laptops or desktop PCs via devices like phones, digital cameras, USB sticks, CD/DVD-R, tablets, printers or MP3 players.

Once installed, administrators can assign permissions to LPT ports, CD-ROMs, COM Ports, or any other device, just as they would to any share on the hard disk. Network administrators may use DeviceLock to flush a storage device’s buffers and to get extended information about devices and NTFS partitions.

ContentLock is an amazing feature that provides the ability to check inside files and other data for sensitive information such as social security numbers, credit card numbers, bank account numbers or other user-definable information and to allow or deny access decisions based on policies having to do with file contents.

It is originally integrated with Microsoft Active Directory Group Policy, and is very easy and straight-forward to install and configure. Typical installations are handled by Microsoft Network Administrators and do not require expensive, specially trained resources.

One other great customer benefit of this program’s tight integration with Active Directory is that it offers the solution virtually limitless scalability. The DeviceLock Endpoint DLP Suite can effortlessly run on every endpoint listed in your Active Directory database.

This particular version in review has been updated to work even better than previous ones that caused a few problems for users. WinPatrol is designed to complement virtually all kinds of antivirus programs installed on your system.

WinPatrol is available both for free and commercial versions; but the premium or commercial version runs faster than the free one. The program is also designed to monitor locations ignored by traditional security software. Contrary to what they might read you from a support script, the application works and plays well with others. You can run WinPatrol alongside your favourite Anti-Malware package and you’ll never detect any difference in performance. Those who had issues with previous versions are definitely going to commend the publishers because this version is a bit more stable than it used to be.
