XOWA for Windows 2.5.4.1
O. James Samson - June 18, 2015Wikipedia has already assumed the status of one of the most used online resources where you can get quality information. The site, which records millions of hits every day, can now be assessed offline with XOWA; which is a desktop application for reading and editing Wikipedia offline.
XOWA is a desktop application for reading and editing Wikipedia offline. Works with any Wikimedia wiki, including Wikipedia, Wiktionary, Wikisource, Wikiquote, and Wikivoyage as well as other specialized wikis such as Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Wikispecies, or any other MediaWiki generated dump. Also works with any non-English language wiki such as French Wikipedia, German Wikisource, Dutch Wikivoyage, and many more. XOWA can be customized at many levels: from keyboard shortcuts to HTML layouts to internal options.
XOWA is not only customizable, it also boasts of some nice features that are very easy to use. Some of these features include: displays all articles from Wikipedia without an internet connection; works with other specialized wikis such as Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Wikispecies, or any other MediaWiki generated dump; renders articles with full HTML formatting; downloads images and other files on demand; installs to a flash memory card for portability to other machines; and many more.
XOWA is a great program, which is also easy to use.
