BitTorrent 6.4
O. James Samson - February 4, 2010BitTorrent is not new in this category; it has made a name for itself when it comes to reliability during file download over the internet. BitTorrent is a protocol for file distribution and identifies contents via URL and is designed to integrate almost seamlessly with the web. Version 6.4 for Windows is an open source program and is available for download without any limitations
BitTorrent has one major advantage over plain HTTP because it can download similar files concurrently. The downloaders are “open” to each other, thereby making it possible for files to support large numbers of downloaders with only a modest increase in its load.
As is always the case with most application used for downloading and sharing files via the internet, I must warn that users should thread cautiously. The major problem people who download files over the internet have is not far from virus attacks. Most viruses find their way into our computer through file-sharing and suspicious downloads. BitTorrent is no doubt a fast way of downloading files, but users should be careful with the kind of files they open.
BitTorrent 6 Features:
- Lightweight client
- Local peer discovery
- Configurable bandwidth scheduler
- Global and per-torrent speed limiting
- RSS Downloader
- Quick-resumes interrupted transfers
- Trackerless support (Mainline DHT)
