Connectify
Ciaran Moore - September 19, 2011If you have two or more personal computers, then you will probably want all of them to have Internet access. Most Internet Service Providers require you to pay an additional fee for every computer in the network, but there are ways to skip this and make your personal network without paying those fees or buying a router or other hardware. All that you need is to download and install Connectify.
This program is only 7MB in size, but is very powerful. Connectify utilizes your computers’ built in Wi-Fi card to wirelessly share any available Internet connection: a cable modem, a cellular card, or even another Wi-Fi network.
Other devices, such as laptops, smart phones, music or video players and more, can access the Wi-Fi network created by this program just like any normal network. The password-protected WPA2 Encryption will keep it safe from neighbors that might try to use your connection. Share the expensive airport Wi-Fi with co-workers, create a hotspot in your Ethernet-only hotel or dorm room, even extend the range of your home router if you already have one. The possibilities with this application are endless.
