If you are looking to add something extra to your desktop to bring it back to life, you could give Rainmeter 1.2 Rev 369 Beta a quick try; after all, it does not cost you anything. Rainmaker is an application that sits on your desktop and helps it to customize it, enhancing your Windows system either at home or at your place of work.

Rainmaker is just like your normal Windows sidebar gadgets and floats freely on your desktop. This program also has some very colorful skins which you can use at any time you so desire to. For instance, if you need to have some quick knowledge of what is in your computer, you can do that at a glance. The problem a lot of people encounter on their computer is mostly battery related, and with Rainmaker, you can have quick information on that.

Though Rainmaker 1.2 Rev 369 Beta is freeware, and that probably may be the reason the publishers have not given it their best shot yet. Users have to manually edit the INI for each of the item in order to adjust the size.
