What is the deal with this freeware?

This is a small command-line utility that allows you to do some useful tasks without displaying any user interface. Running this application allows you to write and delete values and keys in the Registry, write values into INI file, dial to your internet account or connect to a VPN network, restart windows or shut down the computer, create shortcut to a file, change the created/modified date of a file, change your display settings, turn off your monitor, open the door of your CD-ROM drive, and more.

NirCmd command-line option lets you do some pretty neat things very quickly in Windows with just a few keystrokes.  NirCmd is a compact command-line utility that simplifies a wide range of tasks like opening your CD tray, connecting to a network, or anything you can think of that can be specified as a Windows command, with many commands provided. NirCmd odes not have a user interface but it has an excellent Help file that describes in great details ho to use it and provides an extensive list of commands.

Nirsoft, the author of this application has added the following changes to this version: added etitle option to the find parameter of win command, Added new commands: moverecyclebin, suspendprocess , resumeprocess and added ‘clipboard readfile’ command now reads Unicode files.

All in all a very small, simple to use and excellent program.
