Game Protector 1.0
Tilgore Kraut - December 11, 2008Game Protector protects any game with a password and when any user tries to open game it prompts for a password, so that only you can launch it, it is free software.
Pros: Game Protector helps you password protect a game or any other program on your machine. Once locked down with a password anybody trying to launch the game or the program will be prompted for a password. Thus effectively only you will be able to launch these programs on the machine. This then can effectively hide the programs/games that you want to keep private from other users on the same machine. In fact even if they are copied onto other machines, the password lockdown still holds.
The program interface is very simple and direct and easy to use. When trying lock down there are three simple steps after you specify the name of the game/program to be locked out of public view. Specify the password, double entry ensures the correct password is applied. Next step is to choose an icon. It could be the default one or one out of three other choices available and then you can specify the new name, if any. You can choose to have a back up and then simply click protect to have the lock down done.
You can remove the lockdown from the programs any time you need to. Simple click on the unprotect button is all that needs to be done. The interface lets you change the icons and actually hide the type of program that has been locked down as you can change the name too. It’d be useful for parental control too. With Game Protector you can choose to allow or block specific games, you can control what games can be played in Windows.
