SquirrelMail includes built-in pure PHP support for the IMAP and SMTP protocols, and all pages render in pure HTML 4.0 (no JavaScript required) for maximum compatibility across browsers. The program has very few requirements and you can easily install and configure it without any stress. It has all the functionality you would want from an email client, including strong MIME support, address books, and folder manipulation. These problems or issues where basically in the areas of security, harsh and hard to exploit XSS bugs, and general click-jacking vulnerability, and a small problem with message sanitizing.
