Evalaze 0.9

Thursday, November 25th, 2010

Evalaze is published with the intention of making life a lot easier for information technology managers. Installation is very easy; and as a matter of fact, a user can easily run the program without the need to install them, and to make Windows 7 migration easier. Evalaze is easy to use, and can be downloaded and for private use only; it however, requires the .NET Framework 2.0+ to function.

Some of the latest changes made to this version include: compatibility with Windows 7; compatible with programs that use WinSxS-Technology; fixing of issue that relates to false reports of various scanners; support of virtual services; and others. Evalaze is fully packaged in a single, self contained EXE file which can be used instantly. However, when the final EXE file exceeds a size of 10 MB, a DAT file automatically created as primary data container. That allows a user to use different applications without installation on the host computer.

The usage of virtualized software does not create entries in the registry in the registry and none DLL files are compiled on the host computer. The program allows you to save your data and documents in a sandbox, which can be placed in the same location like the EXE.

Users who want to use Evalaze can run it locally on the client or even run portable hardware like the USB devices.

Picasa Build 117.24

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

For easy arrangement and organization of files like; JPEG, TIFF, BMP, PSD, and standard camera movie files; you can check out Picasa. The program automatically finds and organizes all your pictures with some of its built-in features. With this program, you don’t have to waste any more time when sending your pictures through the email by attachments. Another unique feature of Picasa is that users can browse through all their pictures and equally view slideshows of their albums by simply clicking on a button. You can also fix red-eye, and crop without losing data or permanently changing original pictures.

Picasa for Windows may be one program that is a bit technical for someone who is still battling with picture editing. Certainly not in the same class as some other picture editing software, users may still enjoy some wonderful features from it. It is a bit difficult or nearly impossible to turn off scanning. However, the tools are still among the best you can get among some other programs in similar category. Definitely, Picasa is not a bad idea; especially being a freeware program.

For all those who want a freeware program that can be used to edit their pictures to make them look better; Picasa is worth a try.

Friday, November 19th, 2010

PC Wizard is primarily designed for detecting hardware, and some system components in larger scale. This utility supports one of the latest technological standards, and is able to do a lot of things on your computer. The publishers have maintained a level of regular updates; usually on monthly bases in order to enable it give optimal performance. So, if you are looking for ways to benchmark your computer system, you can check out PC Wizard 2010.1.96. Some of the hardware this utility is able to benchmark include; RAM performance, Cache performance, CPU performance, Removable/FLASH Media performance, Video performance, MP3 compression performance, Hard Disk performance, and CD/DVD-ROM performance.

PC Wizard seems to be the ideal replacement for Everest software, and this could be as a result of its regular updates. Although some other users may differ in terms of it being a replacement for Everest, the truth is that I am really impressed with the way the publishers keep up with regular updates. It is a freeware program, and will certainly impress a lot of people.

Some of its many features include: multi languages; tools that enable you to export text and graphic with the clipboard; export any graphic as BMP file; save and print, and e-mail a report; system benchmark; and provide system information among many others.

SharedSafe is not a bad idea for all those who want to turn their electronic mail accounts into simple online file storage. This means that people who install this program on their systems can be sure of benefiting a lot because it uses an encrypted file system to store their files in email accounts.

Version 0.6.2336 is a commercial demo, and users who want to try it out can do so for 90 days with a demo license. BlindWrite 6.3.1.7d

Friday, November 19th, 2010

The primary function of this program is to extract all the characteristics of your disc to your hard drive in order to reproduce a working copy. That means you can protect all your hard work against damages usually caused by problems associated with frequent usage, and children. The publishers also kept in mind the importance of backing up on some protected media. However, users may not find BlindWrite useful when it comes to copying some DVD movies; especially the ones that are very large in sizes or above 5 GB. Users who want to copy something bigger than the size this one can carry should go for other programs that have much bigger capacity. However, BlindWrite works effectively for Blu-Ray disc to BD25 and BD50 copy. Like I already said earlier, BlindWrite is a sure way of protecting your investment from being completely lost or damaged.

Some of its features include: backup files and other programs; a variety of profiles to help you customize any disc you are backing up, supports different formats such as CloneCD, ISO images, Alcohol; and many more.

BlindWrite is not a freeware program, but you can download a free copy for trial before going for the unlimited version, which costs $29.99. Although there are other programs that can be used for free, I don’t think this price is too high because of all the things you are able to do with this program; a fair price I must say.

Trend Micro RUBotted 2.0 Beta

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

Trend Micro RUBotted is a security program that keeps an eye on your application for potentially unsafe programs, such as bots. Actually, bots are also malicious files that enable internet fraudsters to secretly take over the control of your computer system. Of course, RUBotted does not end its job when it discovers any unwanted program; it actually goes ahead to clean it with HouseCall.

Trend Micro RUBotted 2.0 Beta features some new additions, which include; compatibility with other antivirus products, accessible status and log reports, enhanced cleaning capabilities, and improved detection. This program also interfaces with Smart Protection Network that provides proactive blocking through the Trend Micro Web reputation service in order to be able to identify and block new threats.

I am not actually a big fan of freeware security programs; but since it is fully compatible with most security programs, it is worth being tried. Getting the HouseCall to work the last time it came out was a bit difficult, but this new version appears to have taken care of that. With more bots gradually finding their ways secretly into many computer systems, it is not a bad idea to have a program like this on the system to complement other programs.
