Abisoft is an open source, freeware word processing program that works in a similar fashion to Microsoft Word. It’s actually multi platform (currently available for Windows, Linux, QNX, FreeBSD or Solaris).
This program is able to both read and write OpenOffice.org documents, Microsoft Word documents, WordPerfect documents, Rich Text Format documents, HTML web pages and much more.
What i like about it is the smallness of it and it doesn’t require a whole lot of resources to run it, which is a good thing at anytime, but especially if you’re on a somewhat older computer. This has all the features most people use and non of the unnecessary ones.
It’s worth checking out if you need the basic functions of this kind of software but without all the bloat of similar programs and without having to pay a penny!

Maya Personal Learning Edition is a cut down version of Autodesk’s Maya. For anyone who doesn’t know, Maya is a very well respected (and very expensive!) high end 3D graphics and animation program.
Chances are that whenever you see any of the latest 3D blockbuster cartoon (or special effects intensive) movies for example, Maya is probably one of the programs involved along the way, as it can do some very impressive stuff.
The problem is it takes a long time to master, if thats ever even possible! Also it’s very costly to purchase. So thats why they offer Maya Personal learning edition, which is basically free for non-commercial use!
For detailed info check it out here.

Video conferencing has come a long way since a few years back, partly due to better access to highspeed Internet and partly because of better programs. Sightspeed is one such program.
SightSpeed is available in two versions, a free edition and a Pro version. The voicechat quality is about as good as skype and the text-chat feature has its own window. It also lets you record short video clips that can be sent as messages or even embedded in blogs etc.
The free version lets you record video clips up to 30 seconds long, while the Pro version allows 3 minutes. The Pro version also lets you record live calls for later reference.
For more information check out the website where you can download the free version.

Whether you are a webpage designer or you just want to make a custom birthday card, X-Fonter can add that special touch. All word processors come with some sort of standard fonts, but after years and years of the same boring letters, you might just want to add something a little fancier or a little more fun.
X-Fonter 6.2 is the latest in new font technology. This program allows you to view, manage, and create your own fonts in both two-dimensions and three-dimensions. Among the additions and fixes made to the latest version are the ability to store your favorite fonts in special easy-access folders, and repairs to the ‘Select All’ function.
Overall, if you are looking for a creative way to spice up your typing, X-Fonter has a lot to offer, and it comes at the low price of only $35. Of course, there are tons of fonts to be downloaded off the internet as well, but the risk of downloading a virus is much greater with free downloads than real programs.

If you are looking for the solution to all of your messaging problems, MDaemon may be just right for you. MDaemon is a unique kind of mail server which also gives you the ability to scan for viruses and spam on your computer.
While most email clients have some sort of spam blocker, they are only updated once every couple months. MDaemon, on the other hand, offers the latest in anti-spam and anti-virus technology. Some of the latest fixes in the MDaemon programming include: updates to the spam list, simplified graphics, and improvements to the anti-spam technology, which now allows you to block PDF based files as well as regular spam mail. All of these updates have led to exceptionally good reviews in all areas of the program.
Aside from all the great features that come with the program, the price is also very important. Compared to other groupware programs, MDaemon costs much less. If this will be your first attempt at creating your own server, it is definitely worthwhile to get a less expensive program to begin with and work your way up. MDaemon is one of the best places to start.
One of the only real set backs to the MDaemon groupware is that it is a Windows only program. Granted, it does work on all Windows operating systems, new and old, it will not work on Mac, Linux or any other major operating system. This may or may not be a big deal depending on the type of computer you will be working with, but overall this is a small concern considering how common the Windows operating system is.
Ultimately, the MDaemon mail server is one of the greatest programs to hit the market. The cost of the program itself is a fraction of the cost of other popular servers, and the program still goes out of its way to give you top of the line protection against both viruses and spam mail. Despite the fact that this program is really only available for Windows operated computers, it is still a great deal, and if all of your computers work on Windows systems there is no need for concern. The best part of this program is all of the updates and fixes that have already been taken care of, and it is still early in the game for MDaemon. This program will be completely glitch free in the very near future, and then the only necessary updates will be to the spam list. This way you will never have to worry about the latest viruses getting through your main defense.
If you think MDaemon is the server for you, get your own download at http://www.altn.com/Products/MessagingSolutions/MDaemon and start messaging today.

With so much going on at one time, it is hard to resist having multiple windows open on your desktop, plus all of the underlying CPU usage that is normally going on. For this reason, many people deal with overloading their computers, and have to settle for slowing down a bit and letting their computer work at a slower pace. In a fast-paced world this can be greatly annoying. Hence, the creation of a program that can monitor your CPU usage and prioritize those programs that are using too many CPUs and allow the other programs to work at a similar rate.
Process Tamer is a widely popular program because it takes complete control of all of your active tasks and manages them to make your computer a more efficient machine. If one program is moving too fast, Process Tamer will slow it down and let the others catch up. This way you are at a much lower risk of overloading your computer, which will ultimately save you time, money, and a few headaches.
Probably the best part of this program is that it is completely free and still it does exactly what it is intended to do. Unfortunately it is designed for newer operating systems, which is basically anything after 2000.

Have you ever wanted to try writing your own music, but you don’t know how to play an instrument? Computer based composers are becoming a huge deal in the music industry, and the VioLet Composer is one of the highest rated programs you can get for a very reasonable price.
VioLet composer allows you to write any style of music using any type of instruments, all from the comfort of your home. The only real requirements are a computer with Windows 2000 or later and speakers.
The latest version of this program has reached new levels by making it easier for you to copy and paste sections of your music, scroll through your music on the screen, and color code the individual parts of your music so you can edit them separately. Plus, the program also has the capability of remembering your last directory so you can reuse it.
In general, this program is a great place to start for people who are not entirely sure what they are looking for, and they don’t want to spend a ton of money on software that they may never put to good use. The features really make it as simple program to learn unlike some of the higher end programs, so you can learn on your own through exploration.
Be creative now, and get your download at: http://buzz-like.sourceforge.net/

Vector graphics at this point in time are very popular because of the perceived value that they have and of course the real value that they have amongst people that enjoy graphic design. Vector data formats are also useful amongst people managing geographic information systems because it allows them to use the approach of points, lines and polygons in order to create the ultimate end result that their boss might want. So, all in all, vector is a format that is very much loved around the electronic and online world and one of the reasons that people have a love-hate relationship with vector is that all of the programs capable of creating vector images cost an exorbitant amount of money.
Not AutoTrace for Windows, however. It is a program that is useful in the conversion of bitmap raster images to the vector graphics that we all know and love. AutoTrace is also completely free to use and the author of the software (Martin Weber) specifically states that AutoTrace is going to remain free to use because the goal of the project initially was to create a free option to combat the large prices that people have to pay for vector creation software at the current moment in time.
Martin has certainly shaken things up with this program and more information about it can be found at http://autotrace.sourceforge.net/

If you’re like the average internet surfer, chances are you’ve developed a very large collection of music over the years. Ever since peer to peer surfing has come about starting with Napster and then getting larger and larger as time goes on, what we are finding is that many people that have large music collections just keep downloading songs time and time again, with new songs just getting added to the list as they continue to download. This is what causes the large growth of their music collections and when it gets to a certain point, a music collection can be quite difficult to sift through.
This is exactly where the TagScanner software comes in. It is a program capable of a range of functions all relating to the organization of larger music collections. It allows you to browse through the files on your computer and organize your music files by changing the tags on them. Tags that can be changed include things like album, artist name, song title and anything else you can think of that would be pertinent to cataloguing and organizing a music collection. It can also automatically rename files for you based on the tags that you give them and therefore allows you to automate some of the more mundane tasks of organization.

As more and more people become aware of all of the coding behind a lot of the software that is created in today’s world, there is always a rising need for some sort of regulation in the form of software developers including information about their products and applications so that the people using those applications have some background on where those applications comes from and what they might do. These types of files are in the .diz format and are commonly known as Portable Application Descriptions, or PAD for short.
PAD is used by a software developer to get all of the information relevant to their file out into the public so that anybody that wants to find out about their file only has to load up the PAD and read through to find out everything they need to know. PADs are very useful and that is why a piece of software like the PADGen 2.0.2.30 is so useful as well. It is a piece of software that specifically allows you to create PAD files and include them with your applications so that consumers know exactly where your applications are coming from. PAD files tend to inspire confidence and with the PADGen you can easily attach them to all of your files.
The best part is that the software is completely free! To find out more about it, take a look at the developer’s website at http://www.asp-shareware.org/pad/padgen.asp. However, don’t let the domain name fool you; this particular piece of software is completely freeware; no shareware elements to it.
