Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

screen1.jpgHere is an arcade-style puzzle game, you might find interesting. It’s called Clickris. Clickris is an arcade-style puzzle game that is designed to give you loads of fun, if you are a puzzle game fan.

How The Game Is Played:

  • In Clickris, the goal of the game is very simple, get as many points as you can by removing stones from the game field
  • You simply click on groups of stones with the same picture, but not on isolated stones
  • Clicking on such a group, the group vanishes and the stones on top of them fall down. New lines appear, every now and then
  • If any stone touches the top of field, you are out of luck and out of points, Game Over!!!!

Clickris is not free but you can check out the trial or test version for 15 days, ample time to determine if this is worth spending your money on. The trial version as to be expected does not have the full features but you can still enough of the game to make an informed choice.

StationRipper: Record Internet radio songs

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

sr.jpgDo you have a favourite internet radio station you like to listen to online? Wouldn’t it be great if something could save every song from it to your computer automatically?

Well that’s what this program does!

It’s very easy to install and very intuitive to use. For each stream that you select, StationRipper creates a separate folder where it saves each of the mp3’s from that streamed as individual files.

Later on, you can simply delete the ones you don’t want and keep the ones you like, for you to listen to any time you want. The new version will download album art for you – saving the album art with the MP3. Pretty cool way to save new music you discover.

Zattoo: International TV on your PC

Friday, March 16th, 2007

logo_bgwhite.gifZattoo is a program that enables you to watch live television on your computer. Some of the channels currently available are ARD, arte, BBC Prime, BBC World, Bloomberg TV, Canale 5, CNN, EuroNews and EuroSport, to name but a few. (Also many non-English speaking channels).

The bad news is that, currently, Zattoo will only work in Switzerland, the good news is they say they plan to go worldwide with it “soon”.

This looks like it could be a good service, as they say that it’s better than the usual internet video quality. They say it’s equal to TV quality. It remains to be seen if they can keep their promise, as my country isn’t currently served. But i was able to add my email to their mailing list so i can be notified when (if!) it is.

But it seems like one to watch, no pun intended! Check it out here.

One other thing that is useful about this calculator apart from the fact that it does all the talking, (It could repeat talking, stop talking, talk the input key name, talk the expression , talk the result. It could talk in your own voice , if you replace the sound file) is that it displays the input and output in the same line, giving you an opportunity to be double sure about what you are calculating.
